Product IntroductionTungsten Oxide (WO3): Tungsten Metal/steel Production, Ceramic Pigments, and Electrochromic CatalystsTungsten trioxide (WO3, also called tungsten bloom) and blue tungsten oxide are currently the two most common tungsten oxides. Tungsten trioxide is a light yellow triclinic powder crystal. When heated above 740°C, it transforms into orange tetragonal crystals, reverting upon cooling. It is stable in air with melting point 1473°C, boiling point above 1750°C, and relative density 7.16.WO3 is the most stable tungsten oxide, insoluble in water and inorganic acids except hydrofluoric acid. It dissolves in hot concentrated sodium hydroxide and ammonia solutions to form soluble tungstates. It can be reduced by H2 above 650°C and by carbon at 1000-1100°C to produce tungsten powder.

The hydrogen reduction method for tungsten trioxide, also known as the yellow tungsten process, is commonly used in industrial production through continuous countercurrent hydrogen reduction. For producing medium or medium-fine tungsten powder with relatively uniform particle size, a two-stage reduction process is typically employed: the first stage reduces WO3 to WO2, and the second stage reduces WO2 to W. For producing coarse tungsten powder, a single-stage reduction process is used, directly reducing WO3 to W.The process parameters for producing medium and fine tungsten powder are determined based on the following principles:Using relatively low reduction temperatures;
Maintaining a stable temperature gradient along the furnace tube;
Implementing slower boat pushing speeds;
Using smaller boat loading capacities or thinner material layers;
Applying higher hydrogen flow rates with lower humidity levels;
